Saint-Gobain Weber & Kimmco Isover were proud to sponsor, for the second year in a raw, the UAE RetrofitTech summit.

Held in Meydan Hotel Dubai on the 20th & 21th  March 2017 , this event was a great platform to discuss Dubai’s latest energy efficiency measures and initiatives for existing buildings.

In addition to the electricity tariff and the strong growth of the energy demand in Dubai, 30 000 buildings were identified as having a high energy saving potential. Based on this, several public & private initiatives have been launched to engage in retrofit projects. In this regard, Etihad esco, a DEWA venture, is managing a retrofitting program for existing governmental building in order to save 1.7 TWh of energy, 5.6 BIG of water and 1 M tons Co2 emission by 2030.

Following these initiatives, and to achieve these promising numbers, Saint-Gobain has been focusing on promoting  its external insulating solutions for facades and roofs.

As a matter of fact, UAE buildings consume around 80% of the total energy generated (some existing building consume between 220-360 KWh/m2/year) and a major part of this consumption is due to cooling demand. Therefore, building insulation is key for approaching and retrofitting old buildings in UAE in order to maximize the energy efficiency with interesting ROI.

During the event, we had fruitful discussions at our booth around the multiple features of our ETICS/EIFS with stone wool, most importantly the energy efficiency, thermal comfort and fire safety achieved by the use of non-combustible materials. Our  innovative roof membrane designed for hot countries was showcased as well; its interesting features, such as the very low heat absorption and high solar reflectance index, make it essential for easy energy efficiency targets.

We were honored to receive at our booth H.E. Aahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy who showed great interest  in our innovative solutions aligned with Dubai retrofitting strategies and goals.
